Tuesday 5th and back in the land of the living

Made it down to breakfast with a feeling of trepidation.  A cup of green tea and bowl of cereal went down ok and felt as though it might stay down; part way through the cereal a plate appeared with toast coated with egg mayonnaise and some green stuff, after a sniff I figured it was wild garlic.  Well the garlic will either kill the bug or make a dramatic reappearance!  The girl delivering the food also said "A hot dish will be next"!?!?!?  It turned out to be an omelette.  Ah well, hope springs eternal.

Bike loaded I was off up the road heading for the ferry terminal over to the Curonian Spit.

A kind of misty morning, I'd missed the 0930 ferry by a couple of minutes (minor navigational error) and the next one was 1010 so no big deal.

The sun was trying to break through and it had the makings of a good day.  That was my 0930 ferry.

It's back and off loading

A couple of big boats next door.  Cruise liners come in near the old ferry closer to the town

Next stop the Spit.

Had to check!  Couldn't see the Baltic but I could hear it

Dappled light through pines and birch,
The song of birds, is this God's church?
Not built of stone by hand of man,
'Gainst nature he's an "Also ran"
Sun on snow, rain on sand,
Is this the work of the Almighty's hand?
Or is it chance, a quirk of fate?
We'll know if we pass through that gate.

Juodkrante.  The bike trail came into the village right next to the hostel, checked in and stowed the bike away and walked the couple of hundred metres down to the Curonian Lagoon shore.

Along the shore line was over a kilometre of walk and bike trail with sculptures every thirty or forty metres.  Could this be "One size fits all"?

The above two works are by a Brit!!  I'll let you work out which is which.

Food time and bed.
