Bit of a dilemma first thing, the road signs just didn't make sense, I was supposed to be heading for Gdansk but crossed the pontoon bridge as per the guide and there was a sign "Gdansk" but with a diagonal line through it, that usually means you're leaving the place and I hadn't been there yet!
This is looking back at the pontoon bridge and Sobieszewo church.
Anyway, I figured I must be on the right road as there wasn't any other choice and after a while I got to a big traffic junction pointing me into the city.
Riding into the place was a mite hairy at times as the bike track swopped sides of the busy 501 road and although there were zebra crossings with traffic lights trucks would hammer towards you, stamping on the brakes at the last moment and with cars screeching to a halt behind them; all because you had the temerity to set off on the crossing!!
First photos coming into Gdansk.
The Milk Can Gate
St Mary's Basillica.
The Green Gate. The road in front crosses the Motlawa.
Looking NE ish along the Motlawa as a galleon sets off. The big building on left is The Crane.
What a place!!
A magic place to stroll along in the sun.
Even a wedding thrown in for good measure!
The Maritime Culture Centre.
The Swan Tower. The old and new seem to exist quite well together.
Looking back along the river.
The World Hostel, that's where I'm at tonight and tomorrow night.
Signed in and went for another look around.
St Bridget's Church, about 200 metres from the hostel.
The Crane, the top tier overhangs the river and was used to off load craft. It even has a crane on top.
Play time on the river!
A street in the old town.
In the Long Market.
Looking t'other way.
Torture House and Prison Tower.
The Golden Gate.
